This 253,000 square foot facility houses important church documents and historical collections. The building comprises five floors; 13 storage vaults spanning three floors; 270,000 books, pamphlets, and magazines; 240,000 original unpublished records; and nearly 25 miles of shelving. Because the historic materials require strict environmental controls to avoid deterioration, the project was designed and built to achieve LEED Silver certification.
The area includes roughly 43,500 square feet of finished landscape in a busy downtown corner property. We created green space over structure using a crane to set trees and soil. The Church History Library features more than 150 trees and 7,500 shrubs.
